Dr. R. Michael Meneghini, the CEO and founder of Indiana Orthopedic Institute (IOI), has over 20 years of experience with hip and knee replacement. As a national and international leading expert on joint replacement, his specialties include not only primary hip and knee replacement, but also partial knee replacement, revision hip and knee replacement, outpatient joint replacement, and computer-assisted surgical techniques. With this new, innovative practice, Dr. Meneghini will bring an elite experience with superior outcomes to patients and families across the state of Indiana and the Midwest.
An Indiana native, Dr. Meneghini attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where he graduated Magna Cum Lade in engineering. He then received his medical degree from Indiana University and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He then went on to complete a fellowship in complex hip and knee replacement at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic. Prior to founding IJRI, Dr. Meneghini served patients for over a decade as founder and director of the Indiana University Health Hip and Knee Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Meneghini has received several awards. He was named in the “Top 22 Knee Surgeons in North America” by Orthopedics This Week. Newsweek recently named him one of America’s Leading Doctors for Hip Surgery. Indiana University School of Medicine awarded him the Early Career Achievement Award in recognition of distinguished early career achievement in the medical profession, and his undergraduate alma mater Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology also honored him with a Career Achievement Award in 2015.
Dr. Meneghini achieved the academic rank of Professor in Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2020. Having authored over 160 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, Dr. Meneghini has a special interest in clinical and biomedical research. He also serves on the executive board for several prestigious orthopaedic organizations, including the Hip and Knee Societies, Mid-American Orthopaedic Association (MAOA), the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR), and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), where he is also in the Presidential line.
