Dr. Neel Patel is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint replacement, including “bikini-incision” anterior total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, outpatient total joint replacement, computer navigated/robotic joint replacement, and revision hip and knee replacement. Before joining Indiana Joint Replacement Institute, he served as Medical Director of Total Joint Replacement Program at Adena Orthopedic & Spine Institute, where he was responsible for the certification and implementation of “The Joint Commission Advanced Certification for Total Hip & Knee Replacement.” Dr. Patel is deeply committed to the strength of the physician-patient relationship and the meaningful role of shared decision-making in achieving the best outcomes. He believes that restoring function is not only a crucial part of orthopedic care, but also a significant step toward supporting individuals in reaching their broader health and wellness goals. By prioritizing a collaborative, compassionate and comprehensive approach, Dr. Patel is dedicated to helping patients regain mobility and enhance their quality of life.

Dr. Patel was born in Mumbai, India and raised in New Jersey and received his college degree in Biochemistry and Psychology from Rutgers University. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY, and his Orthopedic Surgery Residency from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. His Adult Reconstruction Fellowship was completed at JIS Orthopedics in New Albany, OH with Drs. Adolph V. Lombardi, Jr. and Keith Berend.

Dr. Patel is passionate about research and has served in several clinical research positions. He served as a Research Associate at Columbia University – Center for Orthopedic Research, a Research Fellow at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and a Research Assistant at Albany Medical College and Rutgers University. Dr. Patel has written numerous publications and presented on several orthopedic topics at national and international meetings throughout his career.

Outside of work, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and his two children.  He enjoys golfing, cycling, cooking and being outdoors with his friends and family.
