Indiana Orthopedic Institute in Noblesville and its founder, Dr. Michael Meneghini, this week hosted a renowned surgeon from France as part of an international training program designed to improve orthopedic care.
Professor Nicolas Reina of the University Hospital in Toulouse, France, participated in surgery and clinical work alongside Dr. Meneghini as part of the Practical Course in Orthopedics (PCO) program. PCO seeks out the most experienced providers of orthopedic care as part of “virtual fellowship” programs for physicians and healthcare professionals to learn advanced surgical techniques and clinical practices.
“At the Indiana Orthopedic Institute, his vision is tangible: delivering high-quality care at low cost,” Professor and surgeon Dr. Reina wrote of Dr. Meneghini on LinkedIn. “That should be the goal for all of us, especially in healthcare systems where resources are limited. Excellence is not about abundance — it’s about responsibility. We may have some healthcare system similarities Europe/US after all.”
Dr. Reina is an accomplished surgeon, researcher, and educator who specializes in hip and pelvic surgery. He trained at prestigious institutions in France, the University of Oxford in England, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
PCO covers the patient experience from diagnosis through post-surgical care—the full spectrum of care provided by Indiana Orthopedic Institute, with its focus on integrated care teams and same-day discharge for most patients.
Dr. Meneghini and his team performed multiple hip and knee procedures during Dr. Reina’s stay, including complex revision surgery.
Indiana Orthopedic Institute, with an education and research center built into its flagship Noblesville facility, is committed to advancing patient care through research, teaching, and collaboration.
“We’re honored to have Dr. Reina and Practical Course Orthopedics feature Indiana Orthopedic Institute and our Noblesville facility on an international stage,” said Dr. Meneghini, joint replacement surgeon and CEO of the Institute. “Participants in the well-attended PCO virtual fellowships are from throughout the United Kingdom and Europe. The goal is to improve care for all patients.”
The PCO virtual fellowship will focus on Indiana Orthopedic Institute’s outpatient hip and knee arthroplasty program, designed for rapid recovery, with patients walking within an hour after surgery and discharged hours later to recover in the safety and comfort of their own homes.
“The Indiana Orthopedic Institute hosting an international training program demonstrates its commitment to research and development,” said Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen. “Dr. Michael Meneghini and his team are leading the way in orthopedic healthcare in Noblesville’s Innovation Mile District, extending their impact worldwide to enhance patient care.”
To accomplish this, Indiana Orthopedic Institute vertically integrated its care team, including an in-house perioperative clinic and physical therapy center working alongside expert physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other medical professionals.
The Institute designed its 38,000-square-foot facility in Noblesville’s Innovation Mile District to be digitally integrated and organized for seamless patient flow.
Indiana Orthopedic Institute regularly hosts orthopedic surgeons for training and collaboration through its Surgeon Visitation Program and facilitates musculoskeletal education programs for primary care providers at its Noblesville facility.
