NOBLESVILLE, IN (June 23, 2026) — Indiana Orthopedic Institute announced today that fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement surgeon Dr. Brian Murphy is joining IOI and will see patients at its flagship Noblesville facility and Greenwood clinic.
Dr. Murphy begins treating patients Aug. 1.
“I jumped at the opportunity to be part of Indiana Orthopedic Institute because it’s physician-led and patient-focused,” Dr. Murphy said. “The emphasis is on the physician-patient relationship, with highly coordinated care throughout for the benefit of patients.”
Dr. Murphy strives to be a partner in his patients’ health, providing them with comprehensive information so they can make their best decision regarding surgery or other treatments for damaged or deteriorating hips and knees. He loves being in orthopedics because of the dramatic improvements he sees in patients’ quality of life.
“They have a bad knee or a bad hip, and you literally can fix it,” Dr. Murphy said. “You can improve their function and get them back to their life, doing things that they want to do without pain.”
A native of Northwest Indiana, Dr. Murphy most recently practiced as a joint replacement surgeon for Optum’s American Health Network division in the Indianapolis area. He also has spent much of his career in Bloomington.
He graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine. His training includes completing an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL.
Dr. Murphy and Dr. Michael Meneghini, founder and CEO of Indiana Orthopedic Institute, also trained together early in their careers in Chicago.
“Dr. Brian Murphy is a skilled hip and knee replacement surgeon who always puts the patient first,” Dr. Meneghini said. “We’re honored to have him join Indiana Orthopedic Institute. He’s a great fit for our culture of building a staff and facility where patients feel cared for and valued from their first phone call to their final follow-up visit.”
The addition of Dr. Murphy is part of a wider expansion by Indiana Orthopedic Institute that includes the addition of sports medicine, foot and ankle, and spine care in 2026. IOI this year will expand to 17 surgeons providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care in Noblesville, Terre Haute and Fort Wayne.
